Softening the Hunter

This is an excerpt of a piece of writing about the gods and their relationships. About how Doxa and Dimi came to fall in love.

The hall was full of laughter, and talking echoing through out the room. The Gods all gathered around to feast. Doxa took her seat across from Dimi as she ate. "I hear you are writing stories about me and my feats?"

Dimi let out a soft laugh. "I write stories about everyone. Are you just wanting me to boost your ego?"

Doxa's face grew red for a moment. "I was just inquiring, I thought maybe I could hear them."

"I would love to let you hear them, would be good to make sure their befitting of your strength."

"When and where?"

Dimi paused for a moment leaning forward, pushing her plate with her arms. "How about after the feast, I know a cute little place." She smiled at Doxa.

Doxa nodded in reply. "I'll meet with you after the feast then miss Dimi." She stood from the table and went on to speak with others.

Doxa stepped out of the great hall, before she could even look for Dimi she took her hand and pulled her away. She was much smaller than Doxa, however surprised her with the strength she used to pull her. "You do not have to pull me, I could just as easily follow you."

"You don't like holding my hand?" Dimi teased not relenting. She pulled Doxa through the town, and towards the forest.

"I could hold your hand better if you weren't tugging me along."

Dimi looked back and laughed softly. "Fine I guess I'll slow down. We better get there before the light goes away though." She slowed her pace to match Doxa, keeping her hand held the two walked side by side.

"Where is this mythical place anyways?"

"You're a lot more curious than I thought you where."

"Never know when someone is leading you somewhere dangerous."

"Of course, to truly hear my art you must slay the most fearsome of beasts!" Dimi laughed again flashing a quick smile to Doxa. "I know you already do that daily though, so I'll let you hear it for free."

Doxa shook her head and smiled. "I only assume it would be worth it." The two walked through the forest, the leaves and grass crunching under their feet. They had left the usual path, Dimi guided Doxa through the brush.

Just as Doxa thought the two had gotten lost, the trees began to clear. The sun shined down across a small lake as it began to kiss the horizon. "Wow. This was well worth the journey already." Doxa exclaimed looking around at the grassy shore.

"I was hoping you would enjoy it, I found it some time ago, with your enemy!" Dimi teased as they made their way down to the waters edge.

"Enemy?"

"Or whatever it is between you and Fysi."

"Ah, right." Doxa laughed. "She is not a fan of me no."

Dimi shrugged. "I think you two get along enough at least." She sat down on the grass, a few feet from the waters edge and patted the grass next to her. Doxa took a moment, unstrapping her weapons and setting them on the ground. Once done she sat next to Dimi. "So a story about you hm?"

Doxa chuckled. "If you wish of course, I don't mind just sitting here with you."

Dimi blushed, and laughed softly. "Sounds good with me."

Dimi sat for a few moments before beginning her story. Telling a tale of Doxa and a great beast she had slain. Once the story ended the two continued to talk for hours after the story was finished. Talking well after the sun had set. Finally leaving the lake side together well into the night.
